"Gordo was an essential piece of the puzzle to what made the original 'Lizzie McGuire' so authentic and beloved," said Hilary Duff star and executive producer of the series in a press release.
"I couldn't imagine the series without him," she added. "I can't wait for fans to see what he's up to 15 years later and how he fits into Lizzie's adult world."
Duff, 32, also relayed the exciting announcement on the Disney+ Twitter account and on her Instagram profile. Sharing a photo of her and Lamberg on set, Duff wrote, "I feel so basic saying something that's been shouted at me almost my whole life buuuut......hey now, hey now✨."
Lamberg, 35, who played Lizzie's BFF throughout the show's two seasons and its 2003 movie, joins Hallie Todd, Robert Carradine and Jake Thomas, who are reprising their roles as Jo, Sam and Matt McGuire, respectively.

The revival, which was first announced at Disney's D23 Expo in August, will follow a now-adult Lizzie, who's just shy of her 30th birthday. While she "seemingly has it all," including a "dream guy," swanky Brooklyn apartment and a job working as an assistant to a NYC decorator, "things aren't always what they seem."
The press release adds that, "With a little help from her friends, her loving family and her 13-year-old alter-ego in animated form, Lizzie navigates the ups and downs of adulthood."
OG "Lizzie McGuire" series creator Terri Minsky returns as showrunner and executive producer. The show's release date has yet to be announced.
