"I'm getting a lot of text messages from people wondering if I was shading Camila," Dewan says on Instagram immediately following the show.
Jenna Dewan has denied shading Camila Cabello's American Music Awards performance, despite what cameras seemingly captured.
On Sunday night, while the former Fifth Harmony frontwoman gave the audience a sultry rendition of "SeƱorita" alongside Shawn Mendes, cameras panned to Dewan, who was seen mouthing something that looked like "she's always so extra" to celebrity stylist Brad Goreski.
The moment went viral, but the actress said fans have got it all wrong.
Here's How Taylor Swift Addressed Scooter Braun Feud at AMAs
View Story"Hi, guys! Leaving the AMAs. I'm getting a lot of text messages from people wondering if I was shading Camila," Jenna later said in a selfie-style Instagram Story she recorded on the car ride home. "No! I love her. I love her so much. I'm such a big fan of hers. I don't understand what that's about, but no. I love her, love her, love her."
Panning the camera over to Goreski, he added, "Um, guys, we were bumping and grinding so hard to 'SeƱorita.' We're obsessed!" Dewan interjected to say, "That's my favorite song! So crazy. Anyways, clearing it up!" as Brad made sure to note he loves Shawn Mendes.
"SeƱorita" was Cabello's first of three performances on Sunday. She followed it up with a solo one of her new single, "Living Proof," before taking the stage as a special guest during Taylor Swift's career-spanning medley.
Cabello and Mendes also took home the award for Collaboration of the Year for their summer smash, which led to their real-life romance.
Meanwhile, a pregnant Dewan took the stage with Patrick Schwarzenegger to introduce Halsey's performance of "Graveyard."
