Miley Cyrus' romantic life is often scrutized, but now it's her parents who are snagging headlines: After 17 years of marriage, Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus have announced they're divorcing.
In a statement to PEOPLE, the couple said, "As you can imagine, this is a very difficult time for our family. We are trying to work through some personal matters. We appreciate your thoughts and prayers."
The couple, who have five kids including Miley, filed divorce papers in Wednesday in Tennessee citing irreconciliable differences.
