This is the first in an occasional fashion trend series from designer David Lerner.
What I love about the fashion industry is that it's always changing. A fashion designer sets the trends rather than follow the pack. I began David Lerner Collection by updating leggings, and what started out as a huge trend has now transcended into a daily staple. The Spring 2012 runways experimented with leather and updating the material using the full spectrum of colors and shapes. Despite its newfound versatility, beautiful leather separates are still something to showcase and therefore must be accessorized and styled accordingly.
Leather coats and jackets will always exude a confident, sexy look and adapting it into spring silhouettes offers a fresh approach to warm weather dressing. Combining leather outerwear with lighter fabrics like silk or flowery printed dresses are a cool combination as well.
This Spring designers will defy the traditional leather look and replace its tough exterior with soft and an unstructured supple feel. There will be a myriad of mixed leather with soft fluid fabrics, such as waistbands, necklines; a little bit of leather goes a long way to instill womanly confidence. The perfect Spring leather pieces are short shorts, skirts, mini-dresses and my personal favorite – leather leggings.
David Lerner launched his signature collection of updated, sophisticated basics in August of 2008. A strong passion for design and an appreciation for fashion brought Lerner to his newest venture, an inspiring collection of luxe wardrobe staples. The DL Collection immediately cultivated an impressive roster of celebrity clients including Halle Berry, Megan Fox, Nicky Hilton, Gwyneth Paltrow, Miley Cyrus, and Lea Michele.
