This week marks the long-standing British tradition … the Royal Ascot!
Even with the new slightly stricter dress code in order, there was no shortage of ridiculous hats and even crazier ensembles! While the Queen and the rest of the royal family were dressed more conservatively, race-goers definitely went all-out for the event.
To kick off opening day, Queen Elizabeth and her husband Prince Philip made a grand entrance, arriving by horse and carriage from Windsor Castle to the Berkshire race tracks. As the Royal family pulled up to the course, the spirited crowds cheered "God save the Queen!"
The Royal Ascot is a time-honored British tradition where race-goers can socialize and sip on champagne as they watch each of the different horse races, and with the Royal family in attendance… let's just say it's one posh party!
The yearly event not only kicks off summer, but it's the one tradition where fashion and pageantry are brought to the race tracks, and the only thing more competitive than the races, is the fashion.
