This week, Kellie Pickler celebrates her 26th birthday and kicks off the tour for her album "100 Proof." But before all that, the country music star talked to toofab about two things she's very passionate about: raising awareness about child hunger and her husband, Kyle Jacobs.
Kellie recently teamed up with ConAgra Foods Foundation and Feeding America for the Hunger-Free Summer campaign. The program seeks to provide 500,000 meals for children in Nashville, Tennessee this summer. While Kellie was growing up in North Carolina, she was surrounded by many struggling children, which made the cause one close to her heart.
"I had peers in school that battled with this issue, and I had friends that didn't have power or running water in their homes," Kellie tells toofab. "The only thing that kids should be worried about is being a kid."
On Tuesday, Kellie rolled up her sleeves and pitched in at the food bank. Check out the photos below.
Pickler also opened up about another passion, her husband Kyle.
"It's been a year and a half and it's great. He is definitely a keeper. I married my best friend so we're definitely in it forever," she says.
Although Kellie has no doubt about being with Kyle for the long run, she said that as of now they are not trying to have children. They both have birthdays this week so will be celebrating them together when she gets back from her concert on Saturday.
