There are some big changes coming for "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" ... and thanks to some new photos from the set, we're getting a sneak peek at the action.
The movie is currently filming in NYC, where Andrew Garfield got back into his new and improved Spidey suit. Marvel released an official photo of the updated costume, which has bigger eyes and changes to color and texture.
Another new addition to the film: Mary Jane Watson.
Watson, who was played by Kirsten Dunst in Sam Raimi's original Spider-Man trilogy, will this time be portrayed by Shailene Woodley ... who was seen with her character's trademark red hair for the first time on set Wednesday.
Sorry Emma Stone, Gwen Stacy's got some competition!
And while we haven't seen any shots of them yet, both Jamie Foxx and Dane DeHann join the film as new bad guy Electro and Harry Osbourne, respectively.
Here's the film's official synopsis:
In "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy--between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can't come quickly enough. Peter hasn't forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen's father to protect her by staying away--but that's a promise he just can't keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.
"The Amazing Spider-Man 2" opens May 2, 2014.
