Maria Menounos always has to be camera-ready.
The "Extra" host tapes her show every day, so she has to keep fit all the time (no crazy crash diets for a film role here). Maria also works on Afterbuzztv.com, a TV aftershow site she founded.
"Healthy eating is so important, even more so than exercise," the 34-year-old told toofab's Lawrence Yee.
One of her go-to foods? Avocado.
"I've always been a fan of avocados. I incorporate them a lot. Derek [Hough] and I would get turkey paninis with avocado after rehearsing for 'Dancing With the Stars.'"
Maria loves to mix them up, starting her busy days with a protein-packed green smoothie including Greek yogurt, avocado and other fruits (see celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak's recipe here). She and "Extra" cohost Mario Lopez love avocado in salads, too.
A healthy diet has been especially important as Maria has had to limit her exercise. "I've been injured from all the stress fractures I developed on 'Dancing With the Stars.' I haven't worked out in the last year," Maria admits. "I've been eating really healthy, which has helped me recover."
Despite the stress fractures (which she's fully recovered from), Maria only has good memories from her stint on the show. "I love everyone, I had a great experience. I'm rooting for everyone, but especially Derek and Kellie [Pickler]!"
