While many were rooting for the first tattooed Miss America on last night's beauty pageant, the title went to another first.
Miss America 2014 Nina Davuluri is the first Indian-American to ever win the crown.
The 24-year-old from Fayettville, New York placed first in Sunday night's competition after performing a Bollywood number and answering a question about Julie Chen's plastic surgery secret.
Miss California Crystal Lee was named the runner up with Miss Oklahoma Kesley Griswold trailing behind her.
"I'm so happy this organization has embraced diversity," Nina said in a press release after her win -- clearly proud to represent a new kind of winner.
But there was some major racist Twitter backlash after the announcement -- with people calling her an "Arab" and saying her win was a "nice slap in the face to the people of 9-11."
See more of the outrageous tweets over at Buzzfeed. A lot of them have already been deleted.
Davuluri isn't letting it get to her though.
"I have to rise above that. I always viewed myself as first and foremost American," she said at a press conference.
Congrats to the winner! Check out more photos of Nina from the pageant -- and see some of her competition!
