Broadway's "The Normal Heart" is coming to the small screen!
"Glee" creator Ryan Murphy directs the film adaptation of Larry Kramer's autobiographical 1985 play which follows the lives of several gay activists, who petitioned to fight and raise awareness about the HIV/AIDS disease in the 1980s.
Check out the emotional trailer above which features Julia Roberts as doctor Emma Brookner, Mark Ruffalo who plays a gay acitivist dealing with the loss of his love to the disease, and appearances from Jonathan Groff, Taylor Kitsch and Matt Bomer.
During this time period, doctors did not know how to treat the then-fatal disease, which was quickly becoming an epidemic in America.
"I've never seen or heard of anything like this," Roberts announces in the first few seconds of the trailer.
The HBO movie will focus on seven gay revolutionaries who made it their mission to force the government and doctors around the world to pay attention to the human immunodeficiency virus.
"The Normal Heart" returned to Broadway in 2011 and grabbed three Tony Awards. Are you excited for the emotionally-driven flick?
