Hilary Duff and Mike Comrie are not your average Hollywood exes!
The couple announced their separation in January, but they're frequently spotted spending time together while denying any official reconciliation.
The 26-year-old singer opened up about her relationship during an interview for Billboard's "Pop Shop" podcast, where she admits that her separation hasn't been easy.
"I'm separated from my husband right now, which has been a very difficult thing to go through. But, we have a lot of love for each other and we have this beautiful baby," she said, referring to their 2-year-old son Luca.
The former Disney darling -- who's releasing her first album in seven years -- added, "[There's] a song about Luca and a song about my separation and my love for this person, that maybe we're not meant to be together, or maybe we are."
Calling that track "very, very personal," the actress said that her music became "a lot heavier and darker" after the two split.
"I think I just needed to get that out," she said. "And once I did get that out, a lot of fun came,"
Hilary has not officially announced the release date of her upcoming album, but she premiered the music video for the first single, "Chasing the Sun," earlier this week. Check it out below!
