The 19-year-old beauty covers the March issue of Allure magazine, where she opens up about growing up in the spotlight and her successful modeling career.
While she looks unbelievably sexy in a selection of revealing swimsuits with the same capuchin monkey that played Marcel on "Friends" (yep, it's still alive!), Kendall admits that going through puberty on TV was one of the hardest times of her life.
"I had just started ninth grade when I got my acne," she says. "And I had braces. I wouldn't look people in the eye. It was not a good time for me—it just killed my self-esteem. I thought when I didn't look at someone, they couldn't see my face."
But Kendall has come a long ways -- she's pretty much solidified herself as the new "it girl" of the fashion industry, and attributes a lot of her confidence to being surrounded by cameras her whole life.
"I still have a hard time looking at someone when I'm talking to them, and I get nervous," she reveals. "When I started getting in front of the camera a lot, I think my confidence started to come out. It took a minute, because I had to believe in myself."
Today, the gorgeous brunette has walked the runways for nearly every high-fashion brand around -- from Givenchy to Chanel.
But for Jenner's first big modeling break, when she walked the runway for Marc Jacobs, she didn't want her famous family to steal the spotlight for once.
"I didn't need it to be a family affair," she confesses. "As selfish as this sounds, I wanted the attention to be on me for five seconds rather than my family. If they were sitting front row, it would have been all about, 'Oh, Kim [Kardashian] goes to Kendall's first fashion show!'"
"I love Kim, but for a minute I wanted it to be like, 'OK, this is [Kendall's] thing—she's taking it seriously,'" she adds.
