Chelsea Handler is getting high ... for the sake of her new documentary!
Netflix just released the trailer for the first installment of upcoming her docu-series "Chelsea Does," titled "Chelsea Does Drugs," on Wednesday. In additional episodes, the 40-year-old comedian will also tackle topics like marriage, racism and Silicon Valley on the 4-part series.
"I've done pretty much every drug — besides, like, heroin and crystal meth — I'm pretty versed. I did a lot of drugs in high school," Handler told BuzzFeed while promoting her new show. "Acid and mushrooms, I would still do mushrooms if someone would give them to me."
In the sneak peek clip, Handler travels to Peru to try a new hallucinogenic brew and even smokes marijuana with Willie Nelson. She also experiments with prescription drugs like Adderall and Ambien.
"I had really cool imagery, I had all these memories of my childhood… There were all these memories of [my sister] and the water and our summer house and Martha's Vineyard, tipping kayaks over, tipping the sailboat over… and just laughing and laughing and laughing. It was really beautiful, it made me cry," she said of her experience with Ayahuasca.
Though Chelsea was 16-years-old the first time she tried cannabis (and still smokes recreationally), she did get a medical marijuana license for the doc.
"You just tell them, like, your foot hurts," she hilariously explained. "Seriously, that's what I said ...You just have to say anything and they give it to you."
She also thinks weed should be legal. "A lot of people are much better when they're stoned," Handler revealed. "People should be allowed to do whatever the f--k they want, everything should be legal."
