Gigi Hadid may be the "It Girl" of the modeling world -- but she had a little help from one of the greats to get her there!
The 20-year-old bombshell stuns on the cover of the Spring/Summer 2016 issue of LOVE magazine, where she dishes on the moment supermodel Naomi Campbell helped her perfect her catwalk walk just weeks before the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.
The blonde beauty had some doubts about her strut after she was critiqued by the press. DVF and Donatella Versace were a few of the famous names that jumped to her defense, but it was a workshop with a catwalk queen that set her straight.
"I was with Naomi a couple of weeks before the VS show," Gigi explains. "She said, 'Don't apologize, don't do it. You are perfect the way you are. Everyone said my walk was weird too.' I was like, 'OK,' I go to her hotel and we end up practicing walking in the hallway of the hotel."
Naomi and Gigi garnered quite an audience in the hotel, which made the young star nervous, but the famed '90s supermodel put her at ease and gave her several good pieces of advice.
"Italian families are coming out to watch and she's like, 'Don't look at them, keep walking, they're your audience,'" Gigi continues. "The elevator would open and the waiter would come out – 'Don't look at him, he's your audience, do a spin and keep going.' It was terrifying, walking in front of this Italian grandmother and her kid."
The session with Naomi was just what Gigi needed to be confident in her walk, as she absolutely nailed her first appearance in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show!
"After getting a lot of different opinions about my past Fashion Week, I went into the VS show thinking, 'Yeah. Maybe I am different,' but I have heard Naomi saying, 'Bitch better have my money after I walked for her,'" she recalls. "So it's going to be fine. If people don't like how I walk then they don't have to watch."
