In 2005, Matt Lauer and Tom Cruise went head-to-head about psychiatry and anti-depressants in a conversation that became one of "Today's" most heated moments.
At the time, the "War of the Worlds" star infamously called Lauer "glib," while saying "drugs aren't the answer" and adding that all they do it "mask the problem."
Fast-forward 11 years and now Cruise's ex, Katie Holmes, is addressing those same issues in a new interview with Matt about her new film, "Touched with Fire." The actress plays a poet struggling with bipolar disorder in the flick.
"It asks the question, is it beneficial to treat these people with drugs. You and I both remember a heated discussion I got into on that subject here in this studio," Matt said this morning on "Today. "Where do you think it leads the viewer?"
Holmes -- who was in the studio audience when he interviewed Tom -- gave a knowing smile, but kept it safe when it came time for her answer.
"This movie just shows, this is it, these are these two characters, in a love story and puts the question out there for the audience to make that decision," she replied.
Lauer then asked about a recent More magazine interview she did, where she was described as living the "ultimate second act" in her life right now, post-Cruise.
"I think that was what the lovely interviewer gathered on her own," a very PC Holmes added. "I feel very lucky that I've had wonderful creative experiences recently. Doing this movie, as an actor, was really liberating."
