Lucy Hale has a brand new 'do!
The "Pretty Little Liars" star lightened up her naturally brown hair to a strawberry blonde hue -- and she showed off her mane makeover on Instagram.
"I dye," she captioned her close-up. "Thank you @kristin_ess for temporarily making me the blonde alter ego I've always wanted to be."
Celebrity stylist Kristen Ess, who also is the woman behind Lauren Conrad's golden tresses, tells PEOPLE that the actress "likes doing fun things with her hair when she can."
Hale is on a break from filming the hit Freeform show, so she wanted to spice up her look.
Ess describes Lucy's locks as "a summery shade that works with her tones," which was planned around her dark eyebrows.
"When someone has dark bold brows like Lucy, you have to keep a little bit of a natural root in there," she explains. "That was our main objective while getting it as light as possible and maintaining health."
