Throughout its run, "I Am Cait" has been emotionally heavier than viewers were expecting. But even by the show's standards, this Sunday's upcoming episode is going to be a wallop.
In a promo clip E! released this week, reality show queenmaker Kris Jenner lounges on a sofa to chat with Caitlyn Jenner about life ... but winds up getting launched into an identity crisis of her own.
First, she's shocked by the fact that Caitlyn has to throw out all her men's clothes, saying, "I thought, 'Wait a minute. I spent 23 years building this fabulous wardrobe!'" Lightening the mood a bit, she jokes, "Who knew I was buying the wrong s--t?"
Caitlyn, 66, tries to turn the conversation to a happier subject, revealing to Kris, "For the last four months, five months, I've had lawyers and people and everything going through my name change."
The name on her driver's license now reads: "Caitlyn Marie Jenner." The gender: "F."
"Wow," says Kris, starting to smile, "I didn't know they could do that."
"You can go all the way back to your birth certificate and change that," Caitlyn continues.
"Stop," Kris gasps, but Caitlyn gives her the truth: she had the certificate altered.
"Wait a minute," she says, "does this mean that he didn't exist, if you change the birth certificate?" Caitlyn starts off with a "No" - but it very quickly turns into a "Well…"
Kris presses her, "Wait, was I ever married? Was I legally married?"
