Kendall Jenner's life appears to be an open book, but the reality star admits that she likes to keep things private.
"I'm not super open to new people. I have a small group of people I trust," she says in the June/July issue of Harper's Bazaar (on newsstands May 24). "I'm very intuitive, so I'm good at feeling out how people are, like if they have bad intentions. Sometimes I'm very closed off, which annoys me, but I think it's for the best."
The stunning supermodel also talks about growing up in the spotlight, admitting that she credits her parents for helping her avoid the pitfalls of fame.
"We were brought up in this abnormal world, if that's what you want to call it," she tells the mag. "I feel like a lot of people say that kids who grow up in that kind of world go crazy. But it has everything to do with how your parents raise you. I was raised so normally, or as normally as I could have been."
Another way she stays out of trouble is by throwing herself into work. Her modeling career continues to flourish, but she didn't always dream of strutting her stuff on high-fashion catwalks.
"I've always loved animals. I rode horses for 10 and a half years, so I thought I was going to be a professional horseback rider and then a vet," she reveals. "I used to play these vet video games."
Her dream of working with animals didn't pan out, but even with her unexpected fame, Jenner says she can still get a little starstuck, especially around industry legends including Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld.
"I met him at my first fitting for Chanel two years ago. I was already nervous because it was my first season, my first Chanel show, and I didn't really know what I was doing," she explains. "I'm also pretty shy when I first meet someone … I had heard a lot from Cara Delevingne about how funny he is, how he's normal and just a cool guy. Now, every time we get to work together the relationship gets better."
Kendall admits that there's one A-list celeb who really makes her knees wobble. "I am 100 percent a huge fan of Beyonce. If I see her, I will faint. I've met her before. I just get really nervous and quiet – I just shut up and bow down."
We don't blame her, do you?!
