Blake Shelton's split from Miranda Lambert really took its toll on him.
The country star opens up about his depressing days following his 2015 divorce, after 10 years of marriage with the "Automatic" singer.
"This time last year, there was no light at the end of the tunnel for me personally," Shelton tells PEOPLE. "There was a point there where I thought I didn't even want to exist anymore."
"I told people I wished I could go into a coma and wake up a year from now," he adds.
Of course, that all changed when he started up a relationship with fellow "Voice" costar Gwen Stefani, who went through a high profile split of her own with husband Gavin Rossdale. These days, the two can't get enough of each other, releasing singles together, performing at award shows and posting PDA photo after photo on social media.
Miranda has moved on as well, sparking up a relationship of her own with singer Anderson East.
"Here we are a year from now, and [look at] the way things have turned out and how crazy life is sometimes," Blake says. "You never know who's in your life that can save your life, and I found that out."
