Renee Zellweger is ready for her comeback.
After spending most of the past two years fighting headlines about her changing appearance, the actress is primed to star in this fall's "Bridget Jones' Baby."
Her first step in promoting the flick: a gorgeous British Vogue cover.
The 47-year-old stuns in a floral Prada gown in the July issue, where she opens up about taking a break from acting after "My Own Love Song" in 2010.
"As a creative person, saying no to that wonderful once-in-a-lifetime project is hard. But I was fatigued and wasn't taking the time I needed to recover between projects, and it caught up with me," she tells the mag of her 6-year absence from the limelight. "I got sick of the sound of my own voice: it was time to go away and grow up a bit."
From the sound of it, that time away was just what she needed.
"I found anonymity, so I could have exchanges with people on a human level and be seen and heard, not be defined by this image that precedes me when I walk into a room," she continues. "You cannot be a good storyteller if you don't have life experiences, and you can't relate to people."
For her big return to the Bridget Jones franchise, Zellweger had to alter her appearance a bit, as her character is pregnant in the latest flick.
"I put on a few pounds. I also put on some breasts and a baby bump. Bridget is a perfectly normal weight and I've never understood why it matters so much," she adds of the attention put on changing her looks for a gig. "No male actor would get such scrutiny if he did the same thing for a role."
We'll see Renee back in action as Bridget when the film hits theaters September 16, 2016.
