Lauren Conrad isn't trying to steal Martha Stewart's thunder!
The "Hills" alum covers the July issue of Redbook magazine, where she opens up about her career and her hubby William Tell.
Though Lauren loves to plan parties and decorate, she doesn't see herself becoming the next Martha.
"Those are some big shoes to fill and I really don't see myself doing that," she tells the mag.
The Paper-Crown designer does have some pretty great tips for throwing a good party, though.
"I always try to make sure that the party I'm putting together isn't perfect," she says. "Anything that looks too put-together is too fussy for me. If it feels fussy, then people might not be comfortable. A successful party is about comfort and making people feel welcome."
Although, the former MTV star says the Something Corporate musician isn't the biggest fan of over-the-top social affairs.
"Now that I'm throwing parties with my husband, William, I have to keep in mind that he prefers—how do I say this—easier themes than what I've done in the past," she reveals. "He doesn't like to feel that he's asking friends to go out of their way. So now we do a birthday hoedown because everyone owns a pair of cutoffs and a plaid shirt. I'm learning how to compromise."
The 30-year-old also shares her love of collectibles, admitting that her handsome hubby doesn't quite understand her fascination.
"I have a collection of teacups I display in my dining room. My husband doesn't get why I love them so much," she confesses. "To be fair, I don't share his passion for guitars. I mean, I guess I can understand why he might not see the beauty in a gorgeous, hand-painted teacup. [Laughs] We each have our own things, and that's healthy."
