Shannen Doherty is fighting cancer with her best girls by her side.
Doherty was honored at last night's American Cancer Society Gala, and though her treatments so far have been pretty rough, Shannen is looking every bit as optimistic and healthy as can be expected. Doherty was photographed on the red carpet wearing a crushed velvet blue pantsuit, platform heels, and a classy headscarf, and friends Sarah Michelle Gellar and Chelsea Handler were there to support her.
Shannen sat with Handler last week and discussed her cancer diagnosis and treatment. On "Chelsea," Shannen said, "I think what's beautiful and hard and interesting about cancer is that it tears you down and builds you, and tears you down and builds you. It remakes you so many different times. The person I thought I was supposed to be or was going to be or who I thought I was six months ago is now somebody completely different. I realize 'Wow, I really thought that I was so brave and so gracious this entire time and really I was just hiding.'"
Shannen's relationship with friend Gellar is also tried and true. Back in August, Gellar shared a sweet snap of the duo, and captioned it, "My #mondaymuse (and really every day #muse) is my brave friend @theshando. I've always said she is one of the most loyal friends I've ever known, and now while she is facing the toughest journey of her life, she is sharing it with friends she has never met in the hopes of helping other people who are going through the same struggle. That's a true friend."
"#F--- Cancer," she concluded.
