Kim Kardashian West has spoke out regarding accusations that she appeared in blackface to promote her newest product line.
In an ad released last Tuesday for her KKW Beauty line, the reality star was photographed in an extremely contoured, tan portrait in which her skin is so dark that people on Twitter called out the reality star for appearing in blackface.
"I would obviously never want to offend anyone," West told The New York Times. I used an amazing photographer and a team of people. I was really tan when we shot the images, and it might be that the contrast was off. But I showed the image to many people, to many in the business. No one brought that to our attention. No one mentioned it."
Kim Kardashian Accused of 'Blackface' in KKW Beauty Ad

KKW Beauty launches this Wednesday with Kardashian admittedly following in the footsteps of her little sister Kylie Jenner - who already has a wildly successful cosmetics line. However, the two brands Kylie Cosmetics and KKW Beauty are entirely separate productions.
"I'm working with the same manufacturer," West said. "I've had a relationship with them for a while actually. But the lines, they're totally separate. We don't really talk to each other about what we're doing and what our formulas are."
