Transgender service members appeared on the MTV Video Music Awards carpet Sunday to make a political statement just days after President Donald Trump signed a directive to ban transgender military recruits.
TooFab was on the scene as Sarah Kate Ellis, CEO and president of GLAAD joined the active duty members to spread an important message to the transgender youth who may be confused as to what their place in the world is in today's society.
"Stand up for what you believe in. Your diversity is what progresses America forward and the military is right behind your back on that inclusivity," one serviceman told TooFab at the event.

View StoryHe also encouraged anyone who is feeling out of place to reach out to SpartaPride.org and TransMilitary.org to read other transgender service people's stories.
"Believe that there are other people who are fighting for you and we are not going to stop fighting for you because we've been in your shoes and we are going to be there for you every day," another individual in the group added.
