T.J. Miller and his wife Kate issued a joint statement Tuesday denying he physically and sexually assaulted a woman while studying at George Washington University in 2001.
"We stand together in stating this is nothing more than an unfortunate resurgence of her lies designed to wreck havoc on two happily married people in the public eye," they said, after an anonymous, alleged victim shared an account of what she says he put her through with The Daily Beast.
"We met this woman over a decade ago while studying together in college, she attempted to break us up back then by plotting for over a year before making contradictory claims and accusations," the couple continued. "She was asked to leave our university comedy group because of worrisome and disturbing behavior, which angered her immensely, she then became fixated on our relationship, and began telling people around campus 'I'm going to destroy them' & 'I'm going to ruin him.' She began again to circulate rumors online once our relationship became public."

"It is unfortunate that she is choosing this route as it undermines the important movement to make women feel safe coming forward about legitimate claims against real known predators."
To conclude, the couple said: "We stand together and will not allow this person to take advantage of a serious movement toward gender equality by allowing her to use this moment to muddy the water with an unrelated personal agenda."

View StoryThe alleged victim said the "Silicon Valley" star punched her in the mouth while they were having sex. Although she admitted she doesn't remember the whole story due to excessive drinking, she said she recalls waking up with a fractured tooth and busted lip.
On another night, the woman accused the actor of choking her and forcing her to have anal sex without her consent. "We started to fool around, and very early in that, he put his hands around my throat and closed them, and I couldn't breathe," she said. "I was genuinely terrified and completely surprised... and I had certainly not entered into any agreement that I would be choked."
The victim said she went to the GW campus police almost a year after the events transpired and the university's "student court" told her they resolved the issue. The outcome of that alleged trial is unknown, however, as the university cited a privacy law when asked by Daily Beast about the case.
