"So many of people's tragedies have been replaced by stories of triumph," writes McGowan.
It's been a little over one year since the #MeToo movement took over both Hollywood and the world at large, and Rose McGowan admits she has "seen a change" in that time.
Since sharing her allegations of sexual assault with The New York Times in October 2017, the actress and activist has embarked on a full-fledged journey to bring justice to victims -- and she wants the media to know that "there has been a shift."
Rose McGowan Denies Calling #MeToo 'A Lie,' Still Thinks Time's Up in Hollywood Is 'Bulls--t'

I noticed that over the course of the last thirteen months, the intense stories I was receiving in my DMs were shifting. Those at the beginning of the year are very different [from] those I've received at the end of the year. So many of people's tragedies have been replaced by stories of triumph -- triumphs small and big. It's been an amazing thing to see. I thought you may want to know that there has been a shift. And you have been a part of it."
McGowan added that she's grateful to everyone who has helped "push the needle forward on culture and society" over the last year, which includes fellow actresses and actors, activists and the press who covered every development.

To the awesome media person reading this,
If you are in the media, and I'm reaching out to you, there's a good chance we've spent some time together this past year. I wanted to reach out and thank you for helping push the needle forward on culture and society. By teaming up, we created in under a year a massive cultural reset. I want to personally thank you for your contributions to a changed landscape.
I've been reflecting a lot on what it must have been [like] to work in the news during this past year, and it can't have been easy to have been on the other side. 2018 could be called the Year of the Trigger, and I think we all felt it. I'm writing this in all earnestness. Thank you for seeing it through. After being so highly visible for this past year, I got sick of myself and my story. Saturation point had been reached, but I knew it was for the greater good to push this groundswell forward. The power of the individual -- that was the front face of it. Behind the scenes, I was getting floods of deeply personal, heartbreaking stories. I felt like I was a gatekeeper for pain, and I did not know how to help these people. There were so many. There are so many.
I get asked a lot if I've really seen a change. I have. I started seeing a pattern. And you have been a part of it.
With my sincere thanks,Rose McGowan
