Even after clapping back over all the "hate tweets," the internet kept piling on the actress for sharing a GoFundMe page on his behalf.
Ariel Winter was caught off guard by all the "hate tweets" she received after posting about her cousin's battle with a life-threatening infection earlier in the week.
The "Modern Family" actress shot back at her haters on Twitter Tuesday, writing, "I'm shocked at how many people have sent me hate tweets about my cousin." But even this post was met with more "hate."
Sarah Hyland Takes a Break from Social Media After Backlash Over Promoting GoFundMe for Dead Cousin
View StoryAt issue for many of Winter's followers is the fact that she shared a GoFundMe page set up on behalf of her cousin. Many of them don't understand why a television star who makes as much money as Winter does would ask her fans to pay for his care when she should be able to just do it out of her own pocket.
I'm shocked at how many people have sent me hate tweets about my cousin instead of a simple, kind message showing him some love and support. Nothing else needed to be done aside from that. I re-posted a gofundme that my cousin's friend made just as anyone else would. Hurtful.
@arielwinter1
💔 this is my cousin Tino. If you can, please consider donating to his recovery fund. Anything helps. I love him so much 💔https://t.co/8Sx6R08RAr
@arielwinter1
Winter's "Modern Family" co-star, Sarah Hyland, did donate to that GoFundMe to the tune of $2,500. Hyland endured the same exact online abuse for sharing a GoFundMe for her cousin's funeral expenses in late 2018, with the backlash taking her off of social media for awhile.
There is also an anonymous donation of $5,000 for Winter's cousin, which some of Winter's fans believe is hers. The page has already surpassed its goal of $15,000, sitting at $18,815 as of this writing.
Ariel Winter Shuts Down Instagram Troll Who Accuses Her of Using Cocaine and Meth
View StoryAccording to the page, Tino Tsutras was rushed to the hospital on Friday and "doctors have determined that it was something called Haemophilus Influenzae which could have led to untreatable and deadly bacterial Meningitis." The monies raised is to help with his living expenses as he will reportedly be out of work for some time.
At first, Winter engaged with her fans on the post where she shared the GoFundMe page, but quickly learned it was fruitless, as evidenced by the following:
No offense but like you obviously have the money if not all of it some of it to help your cousin so why are you asking your fans for the money
@RebekkaHardin
If you love him so much what's 15 grand to you. Holy shit. Don't shop for one day!
@FBondurant1972
While some of her fans did come out in support of Winter using her platform to share the GoFundMe page created by Tino's friend, a large percentage of them came after her for simply not paying for everything herself. Some even argued with here about how much money she made.
Where did you get that info? A reputable source? Must not have been because neither of those things are true facts. I responded the way I did because this is a difficult time for my cousin and our whole family and it just adds more pain when someone is incredibly insensitive.
@arielwinter1
The bottom line for many is that Winter is rich and they are not so why on earth would she be coming to them to help her cousin out. Below are some of the "hate tweets" Winter continues to endure, though her latest post is bringing out far more supporters:

@michaelsville
seriously? just pay the fucking bill yourself. You are grossly overpaid and make this in a few minutes. unfucking believable that you would ask others to pay it. pic.twitter.com/hUGVjRxWXJ
@gocheapvegas
If you don't get that then maybe you have to climb down from your high horse and take a look at the normal people @ModernFam
@michaelsville
Lol a millionaire girl asking us poor for money
@buug_
Not a hate tweet but it is funny how all the rich / well off people want all the poor people to pay for everything right. The poor always volunteer while the wealthy take trips and such. Just saying
@Sdhunter7
Yeah, asking strangers to gather 15k for a family member when she herself makes a heathy amount, how much is 15k to her, a dress, a watch maybe
@sn7BD
Isnt that Nothing but change money to you @arielwinter1 and your family?why ask fans that probably make minimum wage,you make millions already!15k you probably have that in ur purse for the weekend!smh
@loudmike22
I haven't seen a lot of hate. I did see some wondering why a multi-millionaire is tweeting for donations to a family member, when they could afford it themselves.
@JayDumont2
I'm a big fan but this is low low low.
