Jay Sebring (Emile Hirsch) - Deceased
Hollywood hairstylist, and close friend of ex Sharon Tate. Murdered by Manson Family, aged 35.
Abigail Folger (Samantha Robinson) - Deceased
Heir to the Folger Coffee empire, girlfriend of Wojciech Frykowski, murdered by Manson Family, aged 25.
Wojciech Frykowski (Costa Ronin) - Deceased
Aspiring screenwriter, boyfriend of Abigail Folger and friend of Roman Polanski, murdered by Manson family, aged 32.
Roman Polanski (Rafał Zawierucha) - Alive
Director and husband of Sharon Tate, was filming in Europe the night she was murdered. Currently a fugitive from US law, having fled the country after pleading guilty to unlawful sex with a minor. Aged 85, he lives mostly in France and only visits countries unlikely to extradite him.

Charles Manson (Damon Herriman) - Deceased
Cult leader of the Manson Family. Tried to incite a "Helter Skelter' race war — which he claimed was predicted in Beatles music — by directing followers to murder. Died in prison in 2017, aged 83.
Charles "Tex" Watson (Austin Butler) - Alive
Central Manson Family member, involved in the murders of Sharon Tate, Jay Sebring, Wojciech Frykowski, Abigail Folger, and Steven Parent, on August 9 1969, and Leno and Rosemary LaBianca the following night. Given death sentence, which was commuted to life imprisonment, along with all other death sentences under Californian Supreme Court ruling. Currently serving sentence in Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego, aged 73, having been denied parole 17 times.
Susan Atkins (Mikey Madison) - Deceased
Manson family member involved in the Tate murders, was sentenced to death, but commuted to life imprisonment. Died in jail in 2009 aged 61.
Patricia Krenwinkel (Madisen Beaty) - Alive
Manson family member involved in the Tate murders, currently incarcerated in the Chino Institution for Women in California, aged 71, the longest-serving female in the state.
Linda Kasabian (Maya Hawke) - Alive
Manson family member who witnessed but did not commit the Tate murders, and who served as a key witness in the prosecution. Now aged 70.
Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme (Dakota Fanning) - Alive
Manson Family member who lived on Spahn Ranch. Later tried to assassinate U.S. President Gerald Ford in 1975. Released on parole August of 2009, having served nearly 34 years in prison, last seen living in New York.
Leslie Van Houten (Victoria Pedretti) - Alive
Convicted of murders of Leno and Rosemary LaBianca, was the youngest woman ever condemned to death in California. Still in prison aged 69; recommendation to grant parole was overturned by Governor Gavin Newsom in June of this year.
Catherine Share (Lena Dunham) - Alive
Paris-born Manson family member who lived on Spahn Ranch, but wasn't directly involved in the murders. Tried to testify that Kasabian was actually the mastermind. Convicted for trying to intimidate a witness against testifying, serving 90 days. Now a 76-year-old self-proclaimed Christian who speaks out against cults.
George Spahn (Bruce Dern) - Deceased
Elderly blind owner of Spahn Ranch, which was rented out as a filming location for westerns, whom Manson convinced to allow the Family stay there in return for sexual favors from his female followers, and that they act as seeing eye guides. Died in 1974, aged 85.

Movie star and martial artist who trained Sharon Tate, and was once considered by Polanski as a suspect for her murder. Died of a cerebral edema in 1973, aged 32.
James Stacy (Timothy Olyphant) - Deceased
An actor who co-starred on the TV western Lancer. Passed away in 2018, aged 79. Lost an arm and leg after being hit by a drunk driver while riding his motorcycle with his girlfriend, who was killed, three years after the film was set.
Steve McQueen (Damian Lewis) - Deceased
Legendary movie star, died in 1980 of heart failure, aged 50, while suffering from an Asbesthos-related cancer.
Wayne Maunder (Luke Perry) - Deceased
Canadian born TV star, died in 2018, aged 80.
Joanna Pettet (Rumer Willis) - Alive
Retired English actress, aged 76.
Mama Cass Elliot (Rachel Redleaf) - Deceased
Singer with the Mamas & the Papas, died of heart failure in 1974, aged 32.
