The movie is the latest Disney attraction to hit the big screen.
Mix Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Emily Blunt, witty banter, a well-known Disney property and a ton of high-octane riverboat action and you've got what looks like a surefire hit.
The first trailer for "Jungle Cruise" dropped on Friday, giving theme park fans a look at just how the Mouse House was able to bring another attraction to life.
The movie follows Blunt's Indiana Jones-type character as she meets up with Johnson's riverboat captain to find a tree in the Amazon which "possesses unparalleled healing powers."
It appears The Rock's character actually runs a tour similar to the theme park ride, making tourists believe they're in danger from "natives" (who are really just actors) and hippos (which are animatronic), while getting a glimpse at everyone's favorite wonder of the world, "the backside of water."
Here's the official synopsis from Disney:
Inspired by the famous Disneyland theme park ride, Disney's JUNGLE CRUISE is an adventure-filled, Amazon-jungle expedition starring Dwayne Johnson as the charismatic riverboat captain and Emily Blunt as a determined explorer on a research mission. Also starring in the film are Edgar Ramirez, Jack Whitehall, with Jesse Plemons, and Paul Giamatti.
"Jungle Cruise" hits theaters July 24, 2020.
