Charlotte Rae tells TooFab that it's "absolutely wonderful" former "Facts of Life" castmate Geri Jewell comes out, and acknowledges she's gay in her upcoming memoir.
"Her coming out as a lesbian, well, it's a healthy time to come out, everybody is very open about it, which is wonderful, absolutely wonderful," Rae, 84, who played matriarch Edna Garrett on the show, tells TooFab.
In Jewell's memoir, "I'm Walking As Straight As I Can," the comedian, who's living with cerebral palsy, recounts battles with drug addiction, money troubles and relationship drama. Says Rae, "I'm just very amazed at Geri Jewell, the struggles she's had, the joys she's given to so many people, the inspiration she's been to all of us."
Adds Rae, "I just wish her more and more good health and prosperity. She obviously knows how to love. We love her."
Rae's supportive comments echo those of former castmate Mindy Cohn, who "100 percent" supports Jewell coming out, TooFab exclusively reported Friday.
