The Top 24 is starting to shape up on "American Idol" -- and after the first night of brutal cuts, five contenders have emerged.
One person who didn't make it was early favorite Chris Medina, who had Jennifer Lopez crying when she had to break the news to him. Fans can check him out this Friday on the "Tonight Show" though, when he performs his new song "What About Words" for Jay Leno.
Other cuts included Ashley Sullivan, Hollie Cavanagh, Molly DeWolf, Caleb Hawley, Denise Jackson, Melinda Ademi and DeAndre Brackensick.
