Hines Ward and his professional partner Kym Johnson won season 12 of "Dancing With the Stars" Tuesday night. The couple, known for their athleticism and chemistry (sparking rumors of a romance), were favorites going into the finale. "I owe it all to Kym. She's an amazing teacher," Ward said. He's is the second NFL to win the mirror ball trophy; Emmitt Smith won season 3 with Cheryl Burke.
After Monday's performance night, Hines and Kym shared the lead with Disney star Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas. The couples were tied with 89 points each. Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy were a distant third with 84 points. However, the "Cheers" actress and her pro partner managed to move up a spot thanks to a strong final dance and audience vote.

Alley may not have won the title, but she won the battle of the bulge. She lost a reported 38 inches from her frame over the course of the season, which she highlighted by showing the same dress she wore in week one. "My dress is half the size it was when we started… I have a lot more strength and stamina," Alley proudly declared.
