Melissa McCarthy's Win for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series
The beauty pageant bit surrounding the category was the best of the evening -- and McCarthy's shocked reaction to winning was definitely genuine. Wearing a crown and holding roses, the "Mike & Molly" star said "Wow, it's my first and best pageant ever, I'm from Plainfield, Ill., and I'm standing here and it's kind of amazing.”
Charlie Sheen Makes Nice with "Two and a Half Men"
Charlie Sheen made a surprise appearance this year, making a speech of contrition to the cast of "Two and a Half Men" -- and wishing them luck on the new season.
The good will continued backstage, where Sheen was seen talking with his replacement, Ashton Kutcher.
Sex Jokes Infiltrate Acceptance Speeches
"Modern Family" writer Steve Levitan's wife was a breakout star of the night thanks to her reaction when he said they were once "caught in the act" by their kids.
"Mildred Pierce" star Guy Pearce also alluded to the dirty deed in his speech, saying "I got to have sex with Kate Winslet many many times ... thank you for allowing me to insert myself into the world of Mildred."
