Star Jones returned to the set of "The View" today -- six years after she abruptly left the morning gabfest.
Talk immediately turned to her exit back in June 2006, where she surprised everyone by announcing on-air that she was leaving the show ... veering away from the pre-planned statement she and Barbara Walters were going to make.

After the show, Jones tweeted about the visit.
