"That girl can REALLY sing!"
That's the feedback "American Idol" semifinalist Jessica Sanchez got from judge Randy Jackson during Wednesday night's show.
The 16-year-old is a seasoned pro (she appeared on "America's Got Talent" when she was just 11) and turned in a rousing rendition of "Love You I Do" from "Dreamgirls." Even more astonishing, Jessica was recovering from swollen vocal chords. Check out her performance below:
Jessica's performance got the only standing ovation of the night. She's established herself as a frontrunner, but hopefully won't fall prey to the same fate that befell fellow big-voiced star Pia Toscano last season.
Picking a pop song from a movie soundtrack proved to be a smart move for Hollie Cavanagh too. Judge Jennifer Lopez reiterated she thought the 18-year-old Texan could win after singing "Reflection" from "Mulan." Watch it, below:
Not everyone fared as well. Baylie Brown was complimented for her looks and not her voice (always a bad sign) and Randy called Haley Johnsen's cover of "Sweet Dreams" a "nightmare."
