Robert Pattinson has been silent since news broke that girlfriend Kristen Stewart cheated on him with a married man -- but back in April he made it clear how he feels about cheaters.
"There's a thing I've never got, that is, why do people cheat?" Pattinson eerily mused in an interview with Italian Vanity Fair.
“Life is not black and white. There are married couples that never see each other. Is that marriage?" he added.
Pattinson's interview is pretty shocking, considering Stewart reportedly hooked up with her "Snow White and the Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders, who has two children with wife Liberty Ross.
"I can understand the impulse [to cheat], but not how you can keep two relationships going at the same time for long. This usually happens to people with children," Robert also said at the time.
According to a PEOPLE source, Stewart's fling with Rupert was only a "fleeting moment" and she's "absolutely devastated" by her "complete lapse in judgement."
As for Rob ... he's not the type to sneak around.
“I'm not the casual-affair kind of guy. If I choose to be with someone it's because I really want it. When I have a relationship, I'm 100% into it," he said back in April.
Kristen made a very public apology to Robert today in a new statement, telling PEOPLE:
"I'm deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I've caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected. This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry."
