Giuliana and Bill Rancic are finally parents!
The celebrity couple -- who struggled with infertility and Giuliana's breast cancer -- welcomed a son via gestational surrogate in Denver on Wednesday. The baby's name: Edward Duke Rancic.
They announced the news via Twitter:
"The 'Duke' has landed! Edward Duke Rancic was welcomed into the world last night at 7lbs 4oz,” Bill tweeted. "G & I feel blessed beyond words…We did it!"
E! News, the network Giuliana anchors for, posted additional details from the delivery room: Edward was born at 10:12pm, his umbilical cord was cut by Bill, and Giuliana was the first to hold him.
Shortly before the couple embarked on their "babymoon," Bill told toofab they were nervous but filled with joy:
"We've had to travel a lot of different roads to get here. When we reflect back on this experience, this little guy probably saved Giuliana's life. Had we not had the struggles with conceiving, had we not gone to a doctor in Denver who made a mammogram mandatory, she wouldn't have gotten a mammogram for many years. Her story and our story would've had a much different ending because the cancer would've spread and it would've been a much more severe diagnosis."
It looks like a happy ending for Giuliana and Bill. Congratulations to the new parents!
