The first look at "Star Trek Into Darkness" is here -- and it doesn't disappoint.
Billed as an "announcement video," the first look is just a glimpse at the teaser trailer to come ... but unlike some of the lame 10 second videos we usually get, this one clocks in at a full minute of new footage!
Chris Pine is back as Captain Kirk, who this time has "a personal score to settle" against a "one man weapon of mass destruction."
That WMD is played by Benedict Cumberbatch, who is rumored to actually be the infamous Khan character.
While nameless in the video above, Benedict's character is definitely filled with wrath -- a voiceover of him saying "You think your world is safe. It is an illusion. A comforting lie told to protect you. Enjoy these final moments of peace for I have returned to have my vengeance."
We also get glimpses of Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana and Karl Urban in the video, as well as a new addition played by Alice Eve.
Check out the video above -- a plot summary from Paramount is below:
When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.
