Britney Spears is leaving "The X Factor" -- but we won't hold it against her.
The 31-year-old will not return to the singing series for the second season, according to TMZ.
But she'll hardly be laying low this year -- the pop star is currently recording her eighth studio album with will.iam and is planning a subsequent tour.
Her departure from the FOX reality series comes amid reports that producers were planning to terminate Spears (and her $15 million contract) due to the low energy she brought this season.
But Brit's not alone -- fellow "X Factor" judge, L.A. Reid also announced his decision to leave the show earlier this month.
