The entertainment community was in an uproar when Ben Affleck didn't get an Oscar nomination for Best Director -- and Ben definitely noticed.
Even though he didn't get an Academy Award nod for helming "Argo," he picked up a Critics' Choice Award for his directorial duties at last night's ceremony.
And he couldn't resist a dig at the Oscars during his acceptance speech.
"I'd like to thank the Academy," he joked when he picked up his statue ... eliciting roars from the audience. "I'm kidding, this is the one that counts."
"It's very very cool for me," he added. "There was a time when Ben Affleck's Critics' Award was a 'Saturday Night Live' sketch."
He also took time to thank his wife Jennifer Garner and daughters Seraphina and Violet, who wrote good luck messages on his hands.
