J.J. Abrams rules the stars.
The lens flare-loving director is going from "Star Trek" to "Star Wars" -- as The Wrap reports that he will take the reigns for Disney's upcoming "Episode VII."
Abrams initially told Entertainment Weekly back in November that he wouldn't be directing the flick, telling the magazine "I have some original stuff I am working on next."
No word on what changed his mind, but Abrams was a clear favorite with fanboys when Disney first announced a new trilogy. This is the guy who made being a Trekkie cool again!
"Star Wars: Episode VII" is slated for a 2015 release, meaning Abrams would have jump right from "Star Trek Into Darkness" into the upcoming flick.
What do you think of the news? Are you worried the universes of "Star Trek" and "Star Wars" will look too similar with the same guy in control?

2015 is going to be a HUGE summer -- with "The Avengers 2," "Pirates of the Caribbean 5" and a possible "Justice League" all expected to hit theaters around the same time.
Which are you most excited about?
