With "Insidious," "Sinister" and, most recently, "Mama," we've seen a lot of haunted house and creepy kid movies lately ... but "The Conjuring" may just rise above the rest.
Warner Bros. released the first trailer for the horror flick today and it's scary. Like, don't-watch-alone scary.
The movie follows a pair of paranormal investigators, played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, who look into a haunting in Harrisville, Rhode Island.
The trailer itself focuses on a mom, played by Lili Taylor, who runs into some freaky clap-happy ghosts while playing hide and seek with her children.
Making it all even creepier: Like "Amityville Horror," the movie is inspired by actual events.
The flick opens July 19. Check out the full synopsis below:
Before there was Amityville, there was Harrisville. "The Conjuring" tells the true story of Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson, Vera Farmiga), world renowned paranormal investigators, who were called to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in a secluded farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful demonic entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most horrifying case of their lives.
