Sami is saying goodbye to Salem.
After 21 years on "Days of Our Lives," Alison Sweeney is leaving the show for good -- and just broke the news with Ellen DeGeneres on today's episode of her talk show.
Sweeney was just 16 when she started playing Sami on the long-running soap and she's ready to finally have some free time.
Between doing "Days" and "The Biggest Loser," Sweeney admits she's "never had more than a two-week vacation" and she's looking forward to spending more time with her children.
"I love Sami, I love Salem, I love my job, I love daytime, I love the fans, I love everything about it," she adds.
Sweeney says she'll be on the show for the rest of the year, and has no idea what the writers have in store for her character's big sendoff.
"I mean it would be awesome to have some kind of happy ending," she says. "But then I also think Sami probably deserves some sort of very twisted like 'Breaking Bad' ending."
