If you've logged onto Facebook, Twitter or Instagram in the last two weeks, chances are you've seen a slew of videos of people dumping buckets of ice water on their heads.
The "Ice Bucket Challenge," which has raised over $41 million dollars so far, is a campaign that supports the awareness of ALS (Amyotropic lateral sclerosis), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Compared to the $1.8 million ASLA made during the same time last year, it's clear the challenge is working.
The viral event requires those challenged to film themselves dumping a bucket of ice water on their heads within 24 hours or they have to donate $100 to an ALS charity of their choice. The contenders who accept the challenge must then post their video on social media and challenge more of their friends (or enemies) to complete to follow suit.
Note: Many people who opt for a cold dunk end up donating as well.
Numerous celebrities including Ben Affleck, Hugh Jackman, Justin Timberlake, Jimmy Fallon, Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, and more are using their fame for good and are taking on the #IceBucketChallenge themselves!
There have been a few notable ones so far. Both Hayden Panettiere and Zoe Saldana confirmed their pregnancies with their videos, Emily Blunt got a surprise ice water attack from husband John Krasinski, The Foo Fighters reenacted the "Carrie" prom scene and the Ice Queen herself, Anna Wintour, even joined in on the fun.
Check out all of the icy clips below ... and go to ALSA.org for more information on how you can donate to the cause.
