We can smell some breakup anthems in the making!
Gwen Stefani got extremely candid about her new album during a press day for Season 9 of "The Voice." The pop star will once again be replacing fellow coach Christina Aguilera -- and she's definitely excited to be back in the big red chair.
"Doing this show is probably one of the most fun things I have ever done," she told toofab's Brittany Kyles at the junket. "There's so much reward from it. It's just different from other things I have done. It's so fulfilling, so emotional and we get so caught up in it."
Gwen's also excited to finally be back in the studio.
When asked about her personal career, the No Doubt singer revealed that she's working on some new music.
"I'm literally writing like I've never written, I think ever. Every time I go in the studio -- which I don't have a lot of time in my life -- so when I've gone in, every single time I have written a song," she said.
"I have close to ten songs, which doesn't sound like a lot, but it's over a very short amount of time. It's never happened. So I am in a really good place for writing and I think that has a lot to do with being on the show last season and also just, I don't know, just opening up and being on a journey to get to this point to be able to write again," Stefani continued.
"I have never been in a place, where I'm like outside all my life, where all I want to do is get in the studio. It was always like a chore, like 'Oh no I have to go to the studio, I am not going to be able to do it. What am I going to say?' Like it's an opposite, it's like I gotta get in the studio. When is there time, you know? Every time I go, I know I'm going to have a song and every time I have a song I get to play it really loud in my car and it's really fun," she confessed.
The blonde beauty just filed for divorce from Gavin Rossdale, her husband of almost 13 years and the father of their three children, in August -- perhaps she's channeling some of that raw emotion into her new music? Only time will tell!
While the 45-year-old is the sole female artist on the coaching panel, she did open about about working with "The Voice" guest judge this season, Rihanna.
So would she consider replacing one of the boys (Adam Levine, Blake Shelton or Pharrell Williams) with another female pop star?
"I loved working with her," she said about spending time with the "Stay" singer. "I loved working with her and I loved looking at her. So I wouldn't mind looking at her all day."
"But yeah, it would be fun," she said. "It would be so different to have another girl. I would miss the other guys though. It's crazy, the chemistry that I think we have is so good and I can't imagine it any other way."
We're definitely excited to see RiRi on the show and can't wait to hear some of Gwen's new music!
