Marriage has changed Cameron Diaz ... but there's one aspect about being hitched to Benji Madden that she just isn't loving.
The 43-year-old actress gets candid about married life on today's episode of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," where she reveals the best part of marriage and the downside to her relationship.
"Someone asked me, 'What's your favorite thing about being married?' And I was like, 'Well, I just learned so much about myself. I didn't know these things' and I was like, 'I would have never known them if I didn't meet my husband who helped me,'" she explains. "And they're like, 'What's the worst thing about being married?' Well, I learned all these things about myself that I wish I never learned about myself and I wouldn't have known them if I didn't get married."
"It's like this double-edged sword," Cam continues. "But I'm just so grateful for it because I couldn't do it without my husband and I couldn't do it with anybody else except for him."
Despite learning a few things about herself she would have rather left hidden, it sure sounds like Diaz is happier than ever these days -- something she says will actually help her stick around a bit longer.
"When we're happy we actually live longer," she tells DeGeneres. "When we accept that we're aging, we live longer. And being that our relationships are very, very important, any kind of relationship, it doesn't just have to be a marriage. Even if you're just engaged in something you really think is important. But I do think that marriage, my experience with it and I know that you have felt the same way, when you can grow with someone it's very important."
Ellen can't help but agree.
"When you're with someone and they challenge you, they're your mirror," the talk show host replies. "You all the sudden see your flaws. You see what you need to work on and I think it's important."
Diaz and Madden tied the knot in January 2015, during an intimate ceremony in front of just 100 people at their Beverly Hills home. Cam's longtime friend Drew Barrymore and sister-in-law Nicole Richie served as bridesmaids.
