Ellen DeGeneres returned Wednesday for her first new episode of 2017 and she took a moment pay tribute to her late friend, Carrie Fisher.
"I wanna say something about my friend, Carrie Fisher," she said, addressing the audience at the end of the show. "I knew her for a long time she has been on the show many times and the last time was just a month ago. I loved when she was here. She made me laugh so hard. She was smart, she was funny, she was hilariously honest about herself and the world around her."
The talk show host then played a montage of clips from the "Star Wars" actress' appearances on "Ellen."
"I miss you, Carrie. I love you," DeGeneres added before signing off.
Fisher last appeared on the show back in November, where she gave out advice to members of Ellen's audience.
