The women of "The View" addressed the president's tweets about International Women's Day on Wednesday morning, with one of them calling his messaging "disingenuous" considering some of his past statements.
In case you missed it, here's what POTUS tweeted earlier today:
I have tremendous respect for women and the many roles they serve that are vital to the fabric of our society and our economy.
@realDonaldTrump
On International Women's Day, join me in honoring the critical role of women here in America & around the world.
@realDonaldTrump
Whoopi Goldberg was nearly speechless about the message. "I'm not sure how to take these tweets," she exclaimed, "Should we take it literally? What's going on?!"
"I think you view it as the obligatory statement the president has to make on Women's Day," said conservative panelist Jedediah Bila. "There are certain things you have to comment on. I'm glad he put the tweet out. Of course, he has to back that up with policy that supports women."
"That's the problem, isn't it?" added Sunny Hostin. "He already said he could grab women by the genitals, talked about Megyn Kelly having blood coming out of everywhere...it seemed very disingenuous to me."
But Bila said it was damned if you do, damned if you don't for Trump, who she said would have still caught flack if said nothing at all.
"If he hadn't made the statement, no one would have noticed," joked Goldberg.
Joy Behar added the only time Trump has said he respected women was after he said something disparaging about them first.
"He has said he respects women 21 times. That means he's always said something that was disrespectful so he had to walk it back by saying 'I respect women,'" she said. "Every time he's said so and so's a pig, so and so's not a 10, so and so's fat, 'I respect women.'"
