Netflix began bracing subscribers for a major change coming to the streaming platform.
The company announced Wednesday it would be abandoning its five-star rating system you may be used to by now (and probably use to determine what to press play on) in favor of a simpler "thumbs up" or "thumbs down."
"It's kind of like dating apps, actually," Netflix explained in a video (above). "Netflix will find shows and movies that seem like a fit, then you can decide if its true love or not."

View Story"This helps Netflix get to know you better," the promo said. "And make smarter, more personalized, recommendations."
The star system is still in place at the moment, but expect it to phase out.
Netflix did not say when it will disappear for good, however, it did finally explain to customers how the star system worked.
