Josh Brolin will pull double duty for Marvel with news that he's been cast as Deadpool's badass sidekick Cable for the upcoming sequel.
While names like Michael Shannon, David Harbour from "Stranger Things" and "Castle" alum Nathan Fillion were all reportedly in the running for the role, The Hollywood Reporter says Brolin locked it down.
The 49-year-old actor will also reprise his role as The Mad Titan, Thanos, in Marvel's "Infinity War," though it's unlikely his two characters will ever cross paths. Unlike Sony, who struck a deal to include Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, 20th Century Fox hasn't been as open to the idea of crossovers when it comes to their X-Men properties.

Ryan Reynolds will return as the "Merc with a Mouth" in the David Leitch-directed sequel, which will drop in 2018.
Zazie Beetz ("Atlanta") was previously cast as Domino in the film.
A teaser for the movie was attached to "Logan," featuring some NSFW language and Reynolds' bare backside.
